Κενή Θέση :  Cataloguer/Metadata Librarian

A.    Ο υποψήφιος θα πρέπει να διαχειρίζεται όλα τα θέματα που αφορούν την καταλογογράφηση και τα μεταδεδομένα της βιβλιοθήκης, περιλαμβανομένων των ακολούθων:

-     Καταλογογράφηση ηλεκτρονικού και συμβατικού υλικού (βιβλία, περιοδικά, πολυμέσα).

-     Γνώση και χρήση αρχείου καθιερωμένων όρων (authorities file).

-     Χρήση όλων των σύγχρονων πλαισίων καταλογογράφησης, όπως γνώση των Library of Congress subject headings, AACR2, MARC21, Dewey classification.

-     Γνώση σχετική με τα νέα περιβάλλοντα καταλογογράφησης  Resource description and access (RDA), Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR), και ευχέρεια στρατηγικού σχεδιασμού για μελλοντική μετάβαση του καταλόγου του ΠΛ σε αυτά.

-      Δυνατότητα στρατηγικού σχεδιασμού για χρήση των ηλεκτρονικών πηγών της ΒΠΛ.

-      Δυνατότητα  χρήσης και αξιοποίησης των εργαλείων διαχείρισης  του ηλεκτρονικού υλικού της ΒΠΛ.

-     Εκτέλεση οποιωνδήποτε άλλων συναφών καθηκόντων.
B.     Απαιτούμενα Προσόντα:

-          -Κάτοχος πτυχίου Βιβλιοθηκονομίας ή/και Μεταπτυχιακού, με τουλάχιστο 3 χρόνια πείρα στα πιο πάνω.

-           -Άριστη  γνώση χρήσης ηλεκτρονικών υπολογιστών.

-           -Γνώση του προγράμματος Aleph/Metalib/SFX (ExLibris) θα αποτελεί πλεονέκτημα.

-          --Απαραίτητο να έχει πολύ καλή  γραπτή και προφορική γνώση της ελληνικής και αγγλικής γλώσσας.

-         -- Ακεραιότητα χαρακτήρα, εχεμύθεια, οργανωτική και διοικητική ικανότητα, πρωτοβουλία, υπευθυνότητα, ευθυκρισία και ικανότητα συνεργασίας.

-           Ωράριο: Δευτέρα – Παρασκευή 8.30πμ.-5.30

It is our pleasure to circulate the 2nd Call for Papers of the 7th Metadata and Semantics Research Conference (MTSR 2013) (mtsr2013.teithe.gr)

Paper submission - Publications

Interested authors can submit to EasyChair. The following types of presentation are invited:

•  full papers (12 pages) reporting complete research
• short papers (6 pages) presenting ongoing or preliminary research
• posters (4 pages);
• demos (4 pages);
• European and National projects (6 pages).

Papers should be original and not previously submitted to other Conferences or Journals. All submissions will be reviewed on the basis of relevance, originality, importance and clarity following a double-blind peer review process. Submitted papers have to follow the LNCS proceedings formatting style and guidelines. Authors of accepted papers will be asked to register to the Conference and present their work in the form of either oral presentation or poster presentation. The Conference welcomes Workshops and Tutorial on any issues concerning metadata, ontologies, semantic Web, knowledge management, software engineering and digital libraries.

Revised and extended versions of best papers will be published in selected international journals, including the International Journal of Metadata, Semantics and Ontologies (Inderscience), and Program: Electronic library and information systems (Emerald) (list incomplete).

Proceedings will be published by Springer in the CCIS book series.

The proceedings will be abstracted/indexed in: Scopus, EI-Compendex, DBLP, Google Scholar, Mathematical Reviews, SCImago. CCIS volumes are also submitted for the inclusion in ISI Proceedings.

Awards:

Best paper award. This award will be presented to the authors of the best full paper submitted and presented to the conference.

Best student paper award. The 7^th MTSR’13 conference sponsors a paper competition to recognize excellence in a conference paper contribution whose primary author is a student (normally at a PhD or MRes level). The student is required to present the paper at the MTSR2013 conference. Submissions are evaluated on their originality, scientific merits, structure, and clarity of composition.

Libraries Data Specialist 

Do you have knowledge of working with large datasets from libraries or a related sector such

as publishing? Do you have XSLT experience? Would you like to work in an English-

speaking international team? Then come and join The European Library team at the

Europeana Foundation, based in the National Library of the Netherlands in The Hague.

The European Library is completely owned and run by the libraries of Europe. It provides a

single point of access to the collections of Europe’s national and research libraries, a vast

dataset of 200 million bibliographic records and metadata to 17 million digital objects. We

are the libraries aggregator for Europeana, the digital cultural heritage of Europe’s museums,

libraries and archives. We sit at the cutting edge of research and development in digital

libraries through a range of externally-funded projects.

The European Library service exists for the benefit of two communities:

• Researchers across the world use our portal as a gateway to content from Europe’s

most prestigious libraries

• For libraries, we are a way to efficiently distribute content to various platforms and

into researchers’ workflows. We make the collections and intellectual output of our

partner libraries as accessible as possible to a global audience

The Libraries Data Specialist will be responsible for metadata assistance and analysis; data

harvesting, ingestion and publication into The European Library portal; as well as data

delivery to Europeana. She/he needs to have

a sound knowledge of XSLT and an excellent

eye for detail. She/he will work closely with both the Operations and Development Teams.

Key responsibility:

• To manage the complete ingestion workflow, from metadata harvesting, indexing and

publishing into The European Library portal, including delivery to Europeana

The Libraries Data Specialist will be working in a team of two in the Operations Team.

She/he will handle the daily ingestion workflow of data coming from content providers into

The European Library portal. This requires working with library domain metadata standards

such as, MARC21, UNIMARC, Dublin Core, METS, MODS, Europeana Semantic Elements

and Europeana Data Model. She/he will need to be able to map these metadata standards

via XSLT. The job also requires daily communication with partners; this means that good

communication skills are a plus. 

Main duties:

• Metadata harvesting, mapping and ingestion into The European Library portal;

• Qualitative analysis of content and metadata (copyrights labelling, persistency of

identifiers, etc.); 

Aggregation into Europeana;

• Populating the Customer Relation Management Tool (CRM) and keeping it up to

date

• Planning and updating of the existing dataset;

• Communication with data providers for metadata and display topics;

• Collaboration with the Development Team for improvement of ingestion tools.

Profile/skills:

• Graduate level of education in Information Management, Library Science, Publishing

or a related field;

• Experience within the library sector, publishing or related field;

• Working experience and good knowledge of

library domain metadata formats;

• Working experience and good knowledge of XSLT

Accurate and precise with an excellent eye for detail;

• IT-literate and fast learner when it comes to picking up new software and new

procedures;

• Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

Staff of The European Library are employed by the Europeana Foundation, based in The

Terms and conditions of employment

The salary for this job is in line with the Collective Labour Agreement for Research Centres,

scale 7 or 8, depending on your experience and

skills. Your annual gross salary will be

between €23.976 and € 36.732 (exclusive of holiday allowance and annual bonus). In

addition, you will have 42 days holiday per year, a holiday allowance (8%), an annual bonus

(around 8%) and good fringe benefits.

This position is until 1 st January 2014 in the first instance. Renewal is possible, subject to

performance and availability of funding.

22nd EBLIDA - NAPLE Conference Athens 2014

ΑΝΑΚΟΙΝΩΣΗ

Αγαπητοί συνάδελφοι,
Το ΔΣ της Ένωσης Ελλήνων Βιβλιοθηκονόμων και Επιστημόνων Πληροφόρησης με ιδιαίτερη χαρά και τιμή σας ανακοινώνει ότι ανέλαβε την διεξαγωγή του 22ου Συνεδρίου της European Bureau of Library Information and Documentation Associations( EBLIDA) - National Authorities on Public Libraries in Europe(NAPLE).
Το συνέδριο το οποίο πραγματοποιείται κάθε χρόνο για τη χρόνια που έρχεται θα διεξαχθεί σε συνεργασία με την ΕΕΒΕΠ, το Μάιο του 2014, στην Αθήνα. Πρόκειται για μια κορυφαία πανευρωπαϊκή διοργάνωση καθώς ο προβληματισμός που αναπτύσσετε συμβάλλει στην προώθηση της ε πιστημονικής έρευνας για τη βιβλιοθηκονομική κοινότητα σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο, έχοντας ως όχημα τις καλές πρακτικές των χωρών μελών που μετέχουν, για τη διατύπωση θέσεων- προτάσεων  στην αντιμετώπιση  των προβλημάτων που απαιτούν λύσεις σε εθνικό και διεθνές επίπεδο.
Το ΔΣ της EBLIDA καθώς και η Γενική Συνέλευση που πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 15 Μαΐου 2013 στο Μιλάνο, μας τίμησαν με την εμπιστοσύνη τους για την ανάληψη της διοργάνωσης, παρά τις αντίξοες συνθήκες, λόγω της οικονομικής κρίσης, που επικρατούν στην χώρας μας. Η εμπιστοσύνη αυτή  οφείλετε σε ένα μεγάλο βαθμό και στη συστηματική παρουσία με προτάσεις- θέσεις  της ΕΕΒΕΠ τα τελευταία χρόνια στις ετήσιες συναντήσεις της EBLIDA -NAPLE. Σημαντικό επίσης είναι και το γεγονός ότι η χώρα μας εκπροσωπείται στο ΔΣ της EBLIDA με τον Πρόεδρο της ΕΕΒΕΠ.
Πιστεύουμε ότι η ελληνική βιβλιοθηκονομική κοινότητα θα σταθεί αντάξια απέναντι στην πρόκληση αυτής της διοργάνωσης καθώς όλα αυτά τα χρόνια έχει επιδείξει σημαντικό επιστημονικό έργο αλλά και οργανωτικές δεξιότητες  μέσα από τις εθνικές και διεθνής  διοργανώσεις.
Ευελπιστούμε επίσης ότι το συνέδριο αυτό θα συμβάλλει σημαντικά όχι μόνο για την προώθηση των προβλημάτων που αντιμετωπίσουν οι ελληνικές βιβλιοθήκες καθώς θα κληθεί να παραστεί και η ελληνική πολιτεία, αλλά θα λειτουργήσει και ως καταλύτης για τη βελτίωση της εικόνας της χώρας, η οποία έχει πληγεί σε μεγάλο βαθμό τα τελευταία χρόνια με αφορμή τη δύσκολη συγκυρία που διανύουμε.
Είμαστε βέβαιοι ότι ο καθένας ξεχωριστά και όλοι μαζί θα συμβάλλουμε με τις δυνάμεις που διαθέτουμε, ώστε να είναι επιτυχής η συγκεκριμένη διοργάνωση. Η ακριβής ημερομηνία και ο τόπος διεξαγωγής του συνεδρίου θα σας ανακοινωθεί σύντομα.

Επιδοτούμενα Σεμινάρια για Ανέργους Βιβλιοθηκονόμους

Το ΚΕΚ Αμερικανική Γεωργική Σχολή θα συμμετάσχει ως πάροχος κατάρτισης στη δράση με τίτλο «Επιταγή εισόδου στην αγορά εργασίας για ανέργους νέους ηλικίας έως 29 ετών», που έχει προκηρύξει το Υπουργείο Εργασίας, Κοινωνικής Ασφάλισης και Πρόνοιας. Το πρόγραμμα περιλαμβάνει 80 ώρες θεωρητικής κατάρτισης, 500 ώρες (5 μήνες) επιδοτούμενης πρακτικής άσκησης σε επιχειρήσεις του ιδιωτικού τομέα με αντικείμενο συναφές προς το θεωρητικό μέρος και Υπηρεσίες υποστήριξης κατά τη διάρκεια της πρακτικής άσκησης.

Πρέπει να μπείτε στη σελίδα του Υπουργείου www.voucher.gov.gr και να συμπληρώσετε την ηλεκτρονική αίτηση για τους αποφοίτους ΑΕΙ/ΤΕΙ έως τη Δευτέρα 20/5.
